"Look what it did," Luka pouts, his eyes barely open and beet red. He holds his hand open to her, showing the three red welts the barbs left on him. His face is caked with yellow pollen, his palm is dusted with it as well but the welts themselves closer to mosquito bites than anything. She can see them standing out pink in the blue of his palm, stung in the heel of his hand. They swelled immediately, and still look peaked but the color has already gone down. His hand is very warm to her touch. He flexes his fingers slowly. "It feels sort of, not numb. Tingling, there's a tingling feeling."
